On April 7, 2006 was just 2 weeks after the Pomeranian National Specialty in Louisville, Ky.
However, some of the best of the best in the Pom world were converging on North Carolina for a day
that promised to hold good things for every entry. The Central Carolina Pomeranian Club was offering
many cash prizes as well as other choice items such as TV’s, crate covers, grooming boxes and other
choice items. Even the wining puppies in Sweepstakes would take home cash.
The trophy table was extended to two tables and both were loaded with lovely items that were on
display. Many exciting events were planned. Our entries had reached 21 in Sweepstakes and 59 in
regular classes. The highest in several years.
Between the judging of regular classes and Best of Breed Competition, there would be a ceremony
honoring two icons in our breed, Mrs. Eleanor Miller of Millamor Poms and Mrs. Marlene Scott Halsey,
former President of A P C and well-known Pom Handler, who is now retired.
After the judging, exhibitors were treated to refreshments. Many club members worked hard behind the
scenes to make the day the success that it was. Thanks to Terry Carpenter and Maynard Wood who
complied the Commemorative Booklet, furnished trophies and prepared the refreshments that topped off
the day. Ruby Seegars who made trophies and Bonnie Stetson who donated the rosettes; Melissa
Barefoot who donated trophies and served as photographer; Amanda Jennings who manned the catalog
table all day long without a break; Sandra Noon who manned the trophy table all day and filled in
where needed. Your efforts are appreciated and your assistance was priceless.
The winner of the cash drawing for $100.00 was Carlene Gilstrap of Mountain Crest Poms. The winner
of the $500.00 cash award was Mrs. Mary Dolde of the Dalmatian club.
